Pull Out the Red Pens ... It's Time to Grade Minneapolis Weathercasters

I've always been intrigued by the different snow forecasts that can be produced by different people with access to the same information. This blog will be dedicated to summarizing the forecasts of local Minneapolis weather forecasters in the days preceding a forecast of snow.

  1. nice idea for a site. i'd even go back another day or two - if you're able to do so - and see what they were calling five days out. i find that forecasts are pretty unreliable until about two days to go, at best - and that t.v weatherpersons like to play up best-possible-scenarios for five days from now so they can say "but things are looking up early to mid next week" if the current, short-term forecast isn't ideal.

  2. Thank you. I do intend to look at forecasts from five days out as I get rolling at this.

  3. Sometimes the degree to which TV forecasters hype a storm has more to do with whether they're in a ratings sweep week.

  4. I tend to agree, Grace. But hopefully this site will help sort the truth-seekers from the sweeps-seekers.

  5. So are we going to see who was right and who was wrong the most??

  6. Absolutely! That's the mission of this site.

  7. I love the idea of this site! I wish you had a facebook button so I could link it up to my page. I'm more excited about the results of this "weather-prediction-face-off" than I am about the end result of the storm!
