Who's crystal clear and who's all wet when it to comes to Minnesota weather forecasters?
After Tuesday's snow that made the Twin Cities the bullseye, it seems that more snow may be in the offing in a few days. Your thoughts?
Well, isn't there some saying about 'don't predict rain during a drought'?? Paul Douglas talked about two more slaps of snow, but the forecast waffles and even puts out sprinkles as the temperature rollercoaster continues. That was a nice little snowmaker parked over the metro this week, but I'm a pessimist for the upcoming days and anything close to that. PWL will have to dance a whole lot. And p.s.: thanks for keeping this blog alive. It is much appreciated.
looks like the NWS currently gives a 9% chance of the Twin Cities seeing an inch of snow. I certainly hope if anything does come down it is not in liquid form!
Well, not the “plowable” snow that was once forecast last night and the Monday nigh - Tuesday storm sounds more like a dusting. But, NWS mentions a possible “Colorado Low” for next weekend. Fingers crossed!
Looks to be a quiet week ahead — NWS:“Low chances for snow are in the forecast for much of the week. Accumulations, if any, will be minor.”
Everyone keep an eye on early next week(Mon/Tues)as the next time frame for significant precipitation. Friday could be a teaser event.
Slop storm coming our way next week?? NWS (this afternoon's forecast discussion): "While the overall model agreement with this system is quite good considering its 7 days out, there is uncertainty with the timing. None-the-less, all signs point to a large system bringing warmer temperatures, and rain/wintry mix early next week."
Surprise, surprise, here comes a quick inch or ?? of snow this morning. And yes, the weekend looks like an appetizer for next week's possibilities.
Really need next week's system to continue shifting southward if we want an all snow scenario in southern MN. The NWS stated this morning the models overnight shifted the system slightly southward, but not far enough to keep southern MN out of the mixed precip. The NWS is talking about a large amount of moisture (one inch or more). We would really miss out on a ton of snow if it is a mix scenario. Dance PWL...Dance!!
