Considerable Variance in Degree of Thursday Cool Down

There seems to be considerable variance in the temperature forecasts this time of year. As of Monday night, while there's universal agreement on a big cool down coming during midweek, there's still a wide range of forecasts for the high temperature on Thursday. KSTP (Dave Dahl), who was the clear winner on the forecast for the current warm weather, continues to be forecast temperatures that are warmer than anyone else. Fox's Ian Leonard has the coolest forecast for Thursday with 65. With just two and a half days remaining until high temperatures are reached Thursday afternoon, here's what the local prognosticators were predicting:

WCCO: 69
KSTP: 75
Fox: 65
KARE: 71
NWS: 67
Weather.com: 66
Accuweather: 72
Strib:69

I have followed the weather in the Twin Cities since 1988. Dave Dahl has consistently been the meteorologist who has been the most accurate. Yes, he will build up things and maybe buy into the hype at times. But he is accurate and thorough and down to earth. I love how he nailed the last heat wave. Ian Leonard is horrible, in my opinion. He gets hyper and gets caught up in the drama.

  2. Is it possible to add weather underground to the list of forecasters?

  3. As far as I can tell, the Weather Underground info feed -- at least the one I look at -- is the same as the NWS.

  4. Hottest day since 1988. If we get up to 103, it would be only the 2nd day above 102 since the 1941. 17 of the 18 days where the Twin Cities got to at least 103 happened between 1934 and 1941.

  5. ok here goes....I'm thinking Thursday will be mostly clear with low dew points which will allow the sun to warm things slightly, therefore I am going with 71°

  7. I had to finally quit watching Fox 9 simply because Ian Leonard over-hypes the weather EVERY time...there are always "changes ahead!!" and his stupid grin to hook you into watching his broadcast coming up. Then spends most of the time showing footage and talking about his polar bear plunge while dressed up like an idiot.

PLEASE, weather should be a little more scientific and FACTUAL. Get this clown off the air.

  8. Channel nine will continue to lose viewers as long as Ian Leonard is on the telecast.

I'll watch a story, but when Ian Leonard comes on, I change the channel.
